Kalonzo Musyoka pledges government fund audits in London address

Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has pledged to audit all government funds, loans, and contracts within 60 days of taking office if elected President in the August 2027 General Election. During a keynote address at Chatham House in London, Musyoka outlined his ‘Rescue, Restore, Renew’ economic and governance programme.

Musyoka proposed publishing details regarding public funds, levies, securitised assets, and financial guarantees. He specifically highlighted approximately USD 2.6 billion in proceeds from the sale of shares in Safaricom and Kenya Pipeline, alongside USD 800 million committed to a digital national health scheme system, arguing these must be subject to independent oversight.

The former Vice President stated that his administration would aim to restore public confidence and address Kenya’s debt burden without introducing new taxes or loans. He criticized current spending practices, stating that the country suffers from a system where government spending and contracts are shielded from adequate scrutiny.
