Kalshi imposes deposit limits for traders aged 18 to 20
Kalshi, a CFTC-regulated prediction market, has introduced new guardrails for traders aged 18 to 20. Ahead of the US midterm elections, the platform has implemented a $2,500 monthly deposit limit for this specific age bracket to promote responsible trading and curb potential addiction.
In addition to the deposit cap, Kalshi is introducing automated alerts for users with balances exceeding $1,000. These alerts trigger if a single market contract exceeds 25% of the trader's total balance, encouraging diversification.
To support families, Kalshi is collaborating with Parent ProTech and ConnectSafely to publish educational guides regarding prediction markets. While these measures target the youngest eligible users, traders aged 18 to 20 represent approximately 4% of the exchange's total trading volume. The median age of a Kalshi trader remains 29.
