Kalter Hund film set for theatrical release in September 2026

The film “Kalter Hund,” a black comedy tragicomedy, is scheduled for theatrical release on September 17, 2026. Directed by Pauline Roenneberg in her feature film debut, the story follows a family attempting to maintain appearances after the patriarch, Herrmann, dies on the morning of his 100th birthday.

The plot centers on the chaos that ensues when a will goes missing and family members begin fighting over inheritance. The film features a cast including Corinna Harfouch, Lea Drinda, Victoria Mayer, Thomas Mraz, Karoline Eichhorn, Simon Pearce, and Johanna Bittenbinder.

The movie had its world premiere at the Munich Film Festival in the “Neues Deutsches Kino” section. Additionally, producers Pauline Roenneberg and Felix Bärwald have been nominated for the 2026 VFF Talent Prize.
