Kalvin Phillips set for loan return to Sheffield United

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, 30, is finalising a loan move back to Championship side Sheffield United after being omitted from City’s pre‑season tour of Asia. The England international, who joined City in 2022 for £42 million from Leeds United, has struggled for playing time, recording only two Premier League starts and a brief Carabao Cup cameo. He previously spent time on loan at West Ham, Ipswich and Sheffield United, where he made three appearances before being sent off in a Steel City derby.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is eager to bring Phillips back to Bramall Lane for the upcoming season, hoping the midfielder’s experience and England pedigree will boost the club’s promotion push.
