Kalwaria Pacławska pilgrimage begins with pilgrims from Ukraine

On August 12, 2026, large groups of pilgrims began their journey to the Sanctuary of the Passion and Mother of God in Kalwaria Pacławska for the Great Indulgence in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The pilgrimage includes many Poles living in Ukraine, who crossed the border at Medyka on August 11. The group gathered for morning Mass at the Archcathedral Basilica in Przemyśl, led by Bishop Edward Kawa, Ordinary of the Kamianets-Podilskyi Diocese in Ukraine.

During the service, Archbishop Adam Szal delivered a homily emphasizing the importance of communal prayer and unity. He referenced the biblical promise of Christ’s presence among those gathered in His name and cited the example of the Apostles praying with Mary as a source of strength for their mission.
