Kalwaria Pacławska to Host Major Pilgrimage Festival August 9‑16
The Sanctuary of the Passion of Christ and the Virgin Mary in Kalwaria Pacławska, Poland, will hold the Wielki Odpust Kalwaryjski from 9 to 16 August. The week‑long event, one of the country’s largest pilgrimages, will draw thousands of faithful from Poland and abroad for processions, traditional "dróżki" (Stations of the Cross), liturgical celebrations and musical performances. The centerpiece is the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on 15 August, marked by a solemn procession of the statue of Our Lady of the Dormition.
Clergy leading the celebrations include Fr. Marian Gołąb, the sanctuary’s custodian, Bishop Edward Kawa, Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi and Archbishop Adam Szal. The festival concludes on 16 August with a jubilee honoring St. Francis of Assisi on the 800th anniversary of his death, featuring a relic procession and special Masses.
