Kalyon İnşaat expands solar and infrastructure projects in Europe and the Middle East

Kalyon İnşaat is expanding its international footprint in the energy and infrastructure sectors, with a specific focus on strengthening its presence in the European solar energy market. The company is currently constructing the Hermannstadt Solar Power Plant in the Sibiu region of Romania. This €40 million project will cover 70 hectares, utilize approximately 94,000 solar panels, and provide 60 MWp of installed capacity. Expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2027, the plant aims to prevent roughly 21,600 tons of carbon emissions annually. Future solar investments are being planned for Poland, Croatia, and Italy.

In the transportation sector, the company is managing the rehabilitation and capacity expansion of Damascus International Airport in Syria. The first phase of the project is targeted for completion in December. Long-term goals for the airport include increasing annual passenger capacity from current levels to 6 million by the end of 2026, and eventually to 31 million within ten years through multiple expansion phases. This project is estimated to create over 90,000 jobs during its implementation.

Murathan Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Board of Kalyon İnşaat, noted that the company’s strategic portfolio includes high-speed rail projects in the United Arab Emirates, transportation projects related to the Zangezur Corridor, and various energy and infrastructure works across Azerbaijan, Syria, and Romania.
