Kamala Harris campaigns in Georgia and advises against Trump impeachment

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has returned to the campaign trail in Macon, Georgia, ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. During her appearance, Harris criticized President Donald Trump, characterizing his political situation as a “tyranny” and urging citizens to use their vote to protect democratic institutions and checks and balances.

In a separate interview with MeidasTouch, Harris advised Democratic congressional leaders against pursuing a third impeachment of President Trump if they regain control of the House of Representatives. She argued that impeachment is not a productive use of limited party resources, noting that the necessary Senate votes for conviction are not present. Instead, Harris recommended that Democrats focus their energy on investigations, executive accountability, and passing policy to ensure the administration is held to account.

The midterm elections will determine control of the House of Representatives and 35 Senate seats. In Georgia, Democrats are supporting candidates such as Senator Jon Ossoff and Keisha Lance Bottoms for governor.
