Former Vice President Kamala Harris purchased a 4,000‑square‑foot, $8.15 million home in the Point Dume neighborhood of Malibu, California. Census data show the tract is about 94 % white and only 0.2 % Black. Harris has previously emphasized the importance of living among other Black Americans, noting in 2019 that “when you’re at a historically Black college… it just becomes about you understanding that there is a whole world of people who are like you.” Her move to a community criticized for limited beach access to BIPOC residents has prompted commentary about the contrast between her public advocacy for racial equity and the demographics of her new residence.

The property features ocean views, wine refrigerators, a private putting green and parking for five vehicles, and is situated in an affluent, largely non‑Black enclave of the Los Angeles coast.
