Kamala Harris faces skepticism over potential 2028 presidential run

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is reportedly considering a bid for the presidency in 2028, despite private reservations from her husband, Doug Emhoff. According to reports from The Wall Street Journal, Emhoff has privately expressed that he would prefer Harris not to seek the office again, though those close to him expect he will support her decision if she chooses to run.

In addition to personal skepticism, some Democratic donors have reportedly warned Harris that a 2028 campaign may face significant challenges and long odds following her defeat to Donald Trump in 2024. While some party figures suggest the Democratic Party should consider fresh candidates, Harris continues to lead most early primary polls among prospective contenders.

Harris has not officially decided on her political future, stating at a recent NAACP event, “I have not decided if I’m going to run again.” However, she has been taking steps that suggest groundwork for a future campaign, including hiring political staff, meeting with major donors, and traveling to battleground states to support Democratic candidates ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
