Kamala Harris proposes Supreme Court expansion and Electoral College reform

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has proposed several structural changes to the United States government during an interview on the ‘Baby, This is Keke Palmer’ podcast. Harris advocated for expanding the Supreme Court by adding more justices to better reinforce the principles of the Constitution. She also called for reforming the Electoral College to ensure the popular vote carries more weight in national elections.

Additionally, Harris expressed support for pursuing statehood for Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., should residents desire it. These proposals come as Harris engages in political activities, including campaigning for Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley in Wisconsin.

Legal expert Y. David Scharf criticized the suggestions, stating that such moves could set a ‘dangerous precedent’ by attempting to rewrite institutional rules. While some Democratic strategists have also discussed court expansion, Harris noted she remains undecided regarding a potential 2028 presidential run.
