Kamala Harris purchases $8.15 million Malibu mansion in predominantly white Point Dume

Former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff bought a 4,000‑square‑foot home in Point Dume, an exclusive coastal enclave of Malibu, California, for about $8.15 million. The purchase was completed in early 2026 and the property features ocean views, wine fridges, a private putting green, a heated pool, a sauna and parking for five vehicles.

Point Dume’s census tract is roughly 94 % white and 0.2 % Black according to the 2019 American Community Survey, making the neighborhood far less diverse than the demographic context Harris has highlighted in past remarks, including her comments about attending Howard University. The acquisition has prompted commentary about the contrast between her public statements on diversity and the demographic makeup of her new residence.
