Kamasan Village undergoes verification for Intellectual Property Based Area status
The Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) and the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights conducted a field verification in Kamasan Village, Klungkung, on August 13, 2026. This visit follows a proposal to designate Kamasan Village as an Intellectual Property Based Area (KBKI) to boost the local creative economy.
The verification process, which included the Klungkung Regency Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA), aimed to assess the village's intellectual property potential and its readiness for official designation. A primary focus of the inspection was Kamasan Painting, a traditional art form that received Geographical Indication protection in 2024. The team met with the Kamasan Painting Geographical Indication Protection Community (MPIG) to observe production techniques, ranging from sketching to coloring, and to ensure the sustainability of the craft within the community.
