Kambளை man arrested for drug trafficking to Dubai

Police in Kambளை, Sri Lanka, have arrested a 26-year-old man suspected of operating a drug distribution network from Sri Lanka to individuals working in Dubai.

The suspect, who previously worked in Dubai for four years, allegedly established contact with a Pakistani national named ‘Khan Babu’ during his time abroad. Investigations reveal that the suspect used telephone calls to coordinate with workers in Dubai, providing them with location coordinates for drugs hidden at various sites in the UAE.

During a search by the Kambளை Criminal Investigation Division, authorities seized approximately 20.40 grams of ‘ice’ (crystal methamphetamine) and 4.80 grams of heroin from the suspect. This marks the first reported instance of an individual being arrested in Sri Lanka for managing a drug trade targeting people in Dubai via remote location sharing.
