Kamen-Methler station accident kills one, forces evacuation of 500 passengers

At 13:09 on Saturday, the Kamen fire brigade was dispatched to the Kamen‑Methler railway station after a person was struck by a train and died at the scene. The train came to a halt several hundred metres beyond the station, making further travel impossible. Around 500 passengers were orderly evacuated and transferred to a replacement train bound for Bielefeld.

Firefighters, rescue services, a doctor, police and Deutsche Bahn’s emergency manager attended the incident. Four witnesses received assistance from the responders. The fire‑brigade operation concluded at about 16:00.
