Kamino appoints Michael Weisz CEO to lead U.S. expansion

Kamino, a Solana-based decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol, has appointed Michael Weisz as its new chief executive officer. Weisz, a co-founder of Yieldstreet (now Willow Wealth), brings over two decades of experience in fintech and private markets to the role.

The appointment is intended to spearhead Kamino’s institutional growth and its expansion into the United States market. As part of this strategy, the protocol plans to establish a headquarters in New York to facilitate closer proximity to asset managers, financial platforms, and regulated service providers. Kamino intends to build out dedicated teams in New York covering finance, legal, compliance, and business development.

Kamino currently manages approximately $1.43 billion in total value locked (TVL) and $1.02 billion in active loans. The protocol has recently seen growth in its PRIME deposits, which surpassed $600 million within 107 days through the use of Figure-linked home-equity loan collateral.
