British Columbia police investigate homicide and manslaughter cases

Authorities in British Columbia are continuing investigations into two separate legal matters.

In Kamloops, the BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit is seeking information regarding the death of 25-year-old Dillen Bain. Bain was found deceased inside a black 2019 Volkswagen Golf that was believed to have been intentionally set on fire on Tranquille-Criss Creek Road on August 23, 2025. Investigators are looking for witnesses who may have seen Bain or a blue vehicle seen traveling with his car in the North Shore area prior to the incident.

Separately, a jury has entered deliberations in a manslaughter case involving Sean Tiessen. Tiessen is accused of killing Joshua Lockwood in 2023 during an incident at a shared residence. Tiessen has asserted a claim of self-defence, stating he acted because he feared for his life after Lockwood allegedly brandished a hatchet. The trial concluded following closing submissions from both the Crown and defence lawyers.
