KAMMI rejects planned AMPB protest at Indonesian Parliament

The Indonesian Muslim Students' Action Union (KAMMI) has announced its opposition to a planned protest by the United Pati People’s Alliance (AMPB) scheduled for August 27, 2026, at the Parliament (DPR/MPR) Building in Jakarta.

KAMMI General Chair Muhammad Amri Akbar stated that the rejection is intended to maintain public order, protect state symbols, and preserve national unity. The group criticized the AMPB’s rhetoric, which included threats to take members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) hostage to demand the passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill and the implementation of the death penalty for corruptors.

Amri described such threats as an unacceptable escalation in a civilized democracy and urged citizens to channel their aspirations through official legislative hearings and public participation mechanisms rather than through confrontational narratives that could incite unrest or damage state facilities.
