Kamnik issues boil water notice for several regions

Komunalno podjetje Kamnik has issued a mandatory boil water notice for the water supply systems in Iverje, Kamniška Bistrica, Palovče, and Velika Lašna. The measure follows preliminary results from the National Laboratory for Health, Environment and Food (NLZOH) indicating the presence of the microbiological indicator intestinal enterococcus in water samples from the Iverje catchment area.

To ensure safety, residents are advised to boil water for food preparation and hand hygiene. While boiling for one minute is typically sufficient, the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) recommends boiling water for three minutes to ensure safety for individuals with weakened immune systems. Boiled water should be stored in a clean, covered container in the refrigerator and is safe for use for 24 to 48 hours.

The utility company has initiated chlorination in the Iverje system as a standard disinfection procedure. New water samples are scheduled to be collected on September 10, with results expected on Friday, September 11. The boil water advisory will remain in effect until subsequent analyses confirm compliance with drinking water regulations.
