Kamnik Municipality opens new pedestrian path between Špitalič and Belo

The Municipality of Kamnik and the Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure have completed a new pedestrian safety project between Špitalič and Belo along the Kamnik–Ločica regional road. The project includes the construction of a 730-meter sidewalk and two renovated bus stops equipped with covered waiting areas.

The initiative aims to improve safety for schoolchildren and elderly residents on a heavily trafficked regional route. The project was a collaborative effort where the municipality managed project documentation and land acquisition, while the state handled the construction of the regional road and pedestrian surfaces.

Mayor Matej Slapar noted that ensuring safe school routes is a priority and emphasized the importance of cooperation with the state to improve dangerous sections of regional roads. Local community leader Bojana Pančur highlighted that the infrastructure enhances sustainable mobility and provides a safer environment for vulnerable road users in the Tuhinj Valley.
