Kamnik to host 53rd Days of Folk Costumes and Clothing Heritage

Kamnik, a historic town in central Slovenia located at the foot of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, serves as a significant hub for both natural and cultural tourism. The area offers proximity to Ljubljana and features diverse attractions including the Velika Planina plateau, the Arboretum Volčji Potok, and various historical sites such as Mali grad and the Franciscan monastery.

Building on its cultural importance, Kamnik will host the 53rd Days of Folk Costumes and Clothing Heritage from September 11 to 13, 2026. Organized by the Kamnik Tourism and Sport Institute, this long-standing festival focuses on the preservation and modern interpretation of Slovenian clothing heritage. The 2026 edition will feature a theme dedicated to the Gorenjska region, including a specialized program titled ‘Od gat do gvanta’ in collaboration with expert Bojan Knific to explore the symbolism and development of regional attire.
