Czech summer boasts free festivals, concerts and film screenings
A series of free cultural events kicked off across the Czech Republic this summer. On 31 July 2026 the city of Teplice hosted a free punk concert in its spa park, headlined by the legendary band Visací zámek and joined by Plexisová janká, Vítkovo kvarteto and Doctor P.P.
The Slavnosti piva Kamínka festival ran on 7–8 August in Kamínka, Roštín, offering a wide selection of Czech beers and performances by bands such as Škwor, Walda Gang, Alkehol, Turbo and Visací zámek.
From 31 July to 8 August the Jiráskův Hronov amateur‑theatre festival took place in Hronov, presenting almost 150 performances by about 80 groups, plus dozens of concerts, exhibitions and a fire show, most with free admission.
The documentary Veřejný prostor Františka Skály premiered on 30 July 2026 with regional cinema screenings in cities including Opava.
The family comedy Dovolená v českém ráji had its pre‑premiere on 29 July 2026 at the Bio Central cinema in Hradec Králové, supported by regional film‑production funds.
Vltava’s summer‑cinema programme in Prague’s Kasárna Karlín featured a radio‑drama version of Spalovač mrtvol in August and a radio‑drama of Čelisti on 31 August, both with subtitles and ticket‑free entry.
Starting 28 July the Pardubice festival opened with free theatre, concerts and a nightly fire performance, continuing through early August.
