Kamnyak wins Ireland Trophy with record-breaking performance
Kamnyak, the 2025 Oaks winner, secured a dominant victory in the second Ireland Trophy (G2) held at Tokyo Racecourse on October 11. Competing over 1,800 meters on turf, Kamnyak delivered a powerful late charge to overtake Joslan, recording a finishing time of 33.4 seconds for the final stretch.
The performance set a new race record of 1:44.4, shaving 1.3 seconds off the previous record of 1:45.7 set by Lavande in 2025. This win marks Kamnyak's fourth graded stakes victory and provides priority entry rights for the Queen Elizabeth II Cup.
Jockey Yuga Kawada and trainer Yasuo Tomomichi both achieved their first victory with this horse. Kamnyak, a progeny of Black Tide, demonstrated significant adaptability to the wide Tokyo course, despite its lineage typically favoring the power-oriented tracks of Nakayama or Hanshin.
