Kampala police arrest eight over viral violent attack video
Police in Kampala have arrested eight individuals following the circulation of a viral social media video in which a group of men allegedly boast about committing violent attacks. The suspects were apprehended on September 8, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation at Gojo Gym in the Namungona area of the Rubaga Division.
In the video, which features approximately six men, the group allegedly claims to have attacked members of the public, causing injuries such as broken jaws and teeth. Authorities state the group also allegedly demanded a portion of the money earned by dentists treating their victims and threatened medical practitioners who did not comply.
Investigators believe the gym was being used as a meeting point where members operated under the guise of boxing training. Preliminary investigations have linked the suspects to various criminal activities, including robbery, housebreaking, theft, phone snatching, the use of deadly weapons, and the unlawful possession of suspected narcotics.
The arrested individuals include Mohammed Matiti (alias Beast-Commander), Nurudin Kasule (alias 2 I/C), Umar Mubiru, Adams Lukooya, Martin Kiyimba, Junior Alinda Yosam, James Walumu, and Elvis Simanya. Police are continuing to search for other individuals featured in the video and are working to identify potential victims.
