Kampar officials promote cultural preservation and tourism development

The Kampar Regency government is working to integrate traditional cultural events into the regional tourism calendar to boost the local economy. Vice Regent Misharti officially opened the 2026 Pacu Sampan Buluh Cina event in Siak Hulu, emphasizing that preserving such traditions is vital for regional identity and ensuring younger generations remain connected to their heritage.

In a separate effort regarding historical sites, the Riau Malay Customary Institution (LAMR) held discussions with the Riau Cultural Preservation Agency regarding the development of the Muara Takus Temple area. Leaders emphasized that the development of this historical site must go beyond physical construction to include the involvement of local communities, the promotion of local arts, and the improvement of resident welfare. The discussions suggested using the development of the Muara Jambi temple area as a model for integrating community needs with cultural preservation.
