Kamping Kitsch Club festival draws 25,000 visitors to Kortrijk
The 15th edition of the Kamping Kitsch Club festival in Kortrijk drew 25,000 attendees to the Lange Munte site. The event featured musical performances by artists such as Willy Sommers, Callboys, and Sylver, and included special guests from a local residential care center.
Alongside the festivities, authorities conducted extensive security and drug enforcement operations. Using four drug dogs, police identified 134 individuals, resulting in 18 people being caught with various substances, including cannabis, pills, and powders. Sixteen of those caught were offered the choice between a formal report or an immediate fine, while two individuals are under investigation for potential drug trafficking.
Security measures also addressed behavioral issues, leading to 25 people being removed from the grounds for public intoxication or disturbing the peace. Approximately 150 visitors required medical assistance for minor injuries, with some being transported to a hospital. Mayor Ruth Vandenberghe expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between various services during the event.
