Kampung Ambon drug raid followed by suspicious fire in Jakarta

A joint task force comprising 210 officers from the National Narcotics Board (BNN), the Indonesian National Police (Bareskrim Polri), and the Metro Jaya Regional Police conducted a major raid on a suspected drug stronghold in Kampung Ambon, Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

During the operation, authorities seized various items of evidence, including methamphetamine (sabu), drug paraphernalia, cash, and sharp weapons. Several suspected users and dealers were also detained.

Following the raid, the site of the former illegal drug stalls in Kampung Ambon was destroyed by fire on a Wednesday night. West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Nasriadi stated that investigators are looking into whether the fire was intentionally set by drug traffickers as a form of resistance against the police crackdown. Police have vowed to pursue those responsible if the blaze is linked to criminal networks.
