Kampung Qur'an Rusunawa Penjaringan inaugurated in North Jakarta

On 31 July 2026, Vice Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno officially opened the Kampung Qur'an Rusunawa Penjaringan in North Jakarta. The facility is designed as a centre for Quran learning, character development and community empowerment, and is presented as a pilot project that could be replicated in other Jakarta districts.

North Jakarta Mayor Hendra Hidayat said the new kampung has become an “ecosystem for Quran education” with a Quran centre, the RCA Education Foundation, about 400 santri, a TPA and active majelis taklim. He highlighted its role in preparing participants for national Quran recitation competitions (MTQ, STQH) and in fostering religious‑based character building. The project was initiated by Ahmad Mulki Sulaiman, chair of the Lembaga Pengembangan Tilawatil Qur'an (LPTQ) Jakarta Utara, and aims to expand to other neighbourhoods.

Local residents, such as tower‑C occupant Winarni, expressed hope that the kampung will provide early religious education for children, promoting discipline and community spirit.
