Kamren Curl fined $17,911 by NFL for illegal tackle

Los Angeles Rams safety Kamren Curl has been fined $17,911 by the NFL for “unnecessary roughness” following an illegal “hip drop tackle” during a Week 3 game against the Denver Broncos. Although the play was not flagged by officials during the contest, the league's post-game review resulted in the disciplinary action.

Under new NFL and NFLPA guidelines implemented in August, players who accrue three fines in a single category face an automatic one-game suspension. Curl faces the possibility of an appeal to contest the decision.

The disciplinary news comes as the Rams prepare to face the Philadelphia Eagles. The matchup carries additional weight for the Rams' special teams unit, which has faced scrutiny following a late-game field goal block by the Eagles in a previous season and recent performance inconsistencies.
