Kamya Punjabi reveals domestic violence during first marriage

Indian television actress Kamya Punjabi has revealed that she was a victim of domestic violence during her first marriage to businessman Bunty Negi. In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Punjabi shared that she used heavy layers of makeup to conceal physical bruises and injuries before attending work or public award ceremonies.

Punjabi stated that she ignored early warning signs and parental concerns because Negi was her first love. She described the relationship as controlling and noted that she had attempted to save the marriage for many years. The decision to finally leave the marriage after 13 years was prompted by witnessing her daughter, Aara, crying during an argument between her parents.

Following the separation, Punjabi chose not to seek alimony and focused on being able to provide for her daughter independently. She married healthcare professional Shalabh Dang in 2020.
