Kanahooka men face court for child abuse material charges

Two men from Kanahooka are facing legal proceedings following investigations into the possession of child abuse material.

Steven Kollaras, 36, pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing child abuse data at Wollongong Local Court. Court documents indicate Kollaras used a carriage service to access the material from Kanahooka on April 8, 2025, and June 13, 2022. He was arrested following a police raid on his home in August 2025 and is scheduled to appear in Wollongong District Court in December.

Separately, 60-year-old John Stanley Kiker pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing child abuse material at Port Kembla Local Court. The investigation began after Australian Border Force officers discovered files on Kiker’s electronic device during a search at Sydney International Airport in January 2026, following his return from the Philippines.

Police reports state that investigators recovered a USB drive and an SD card containing graphic videos of children being sexually assaulted. During the proceedings, Judge Mark Douglass declined to read specific descriptions of the material to protect the wellbeing of court staff and the public.
