Author Kanako Nishi has released her new long-form novel, ‘Kizumono’, published by Shogakukan on September 30, 2026. This marks her first major novel in five years, following her previous works such as the Naoki Prize-winning ‘Saraba!’ and the non-fiction book ‘Kumo o Sagasu’.
The novel is a character-driven ensemble piece set in the modern era, exploring the lives of individuals with diverse backgrounds and personal struggles. The narrative follows two interconnected groups: a novelist named Mitsu Matsukawa and his childhood friend Takeshi Tamochi, as well as Haruka, who travels from Japan to live in Vancouver, Canada, with her friend Machika.
Prominent figures including comedian and writer Naoki Matayoshi and comedian/director Yuriyan Retriever have provided endorsements for the work. The book has also received significant praise from over 250 bookstore employees across Japan.
