Kananga student develops egg incubator prototype

Nkongolo Mubeneshayi John, an 18-year-old electronics student at Institut Aigle in Kananga, Kasaï-Central, has developed a prototype egg incubator designed to facilitate artificial incubation for poultry.

Inspired by his own experiences in livestock farming, John created the device to address high costs and limited access to fertilized eggs and chicks from other regions. The prototype utilizes an electronic temperature regulation system that detects thermal variations to control heating, maintaining optimal conditions for incubation.

The current experimental model has a capacity of four eggs, with results expected following a 21-day incubation period. John recently presented his invention to Emmanuel Kabangu, president of the Kasaï-Central Provincial Youth Council, who pledged to support the innovator by connecting him with partners and provincial youth ministry officials to help scale the project.
