Kanazawa Institute of Technology professors selected for startup support

Two professors from the Kanazawa Institute of Technology have been selected for the FY2026 ISICO Startup Creation Support Project (F/S Support Category). This initiative by the Ishikawa Prefectural Organization for Small and Medium Enterprise Support aims to commercialize innovative technologies to drive the regional economy.

Professor Katsuhiro Fukui of the Department of Electronic and Information Systems Engineering will work on a dual underwater acoustic device designed to protect native fish species, such as ayu and trout, while efficiently managing invasive species like black bass. The AI-driven device uses sound to distinguish fish species and protect biodiversity without the use of chemicals or electricity.

Professor Masami Kojima of the Department of Life and Applied Bio Sciences will focus on the research and development of new therapeutic technologies and drugs for dementia prevention and treatment. The project aims to translate neuroscience research into practical medical applications to address the growing global challenge of dementia.
