Kanazawa University suspends assistant professor for research fund fraud

Kanazawa University has issued a three-month suspension to a male assistant professor in the Integrated Science division for fraudulent research fund claims. The investigation, which stemmed from a probe into a former professor's misconduct, confirmed that the assistant professor engaged in deposit-based fraud totaling approximately 840,000 yen. The funds involved in the fraudulent claims have been voluntarily returned.

This incident follows a series of disciplinary actions at the university. In June, a professor in his 40s was dismissed for receiving money from interested vendors, and another professor in his 50s was dismissed for repeated harassment of students and faculty. Additionally, a staff member was recently suspended for seven days due to harassment of a colleague.
