Cycling events in Turkey promote tourism and cultural heritage
Various cycling events are taking place across Turkey to promote tourism and cultural heritage. In Kocaeli, the 6th Kocaeli Tourism and Cycling Festival has commenced in the Kandıra district. The three-day event at Kerpe Ömerağzı Bay features 324 cyclists from 23 Turkish cities and several international locations, including the United Kingdom, France, Bulgaria, Iran, and Albania. Participants are exploring coastal and forest routes, such as the Kartal Cliffs, to highlight the region's natural beauty.
In Bitlis, a group of approximately 20 cyclists organized by the Vangölü Aktivistleri Association and the Tatvan Running Club held an event to raise awareness for the preservation of historical sites. The group focused on Deliklitaş, a site of significant local memory. Organizers and historians called for restoration efforts to return the site to its original characteristic appearance, emphasizing the importance of protecting the city's cultural identity.
Additionally, in Eskişehir, the Cyclists Association conducts weekly rides under the slogan ‘Be Visible, Be Safe’ to promote traffic safety and cycling awareness among urban commuters.
