In interviews with Australian and Variety outlets he argued that AI is a symptom of broader cultural and economic decay and offers no real artistic value.

Parsons emphasized his preference for practical effects, noting that the movie relied on massive physical sets and a real‑life creature performer rather than CGI. *The Backrooms* recently topped the U.S. box office, and Parsons said he plans to continue exploring AI‑related themes artistically without using AI tools themselves.
