KANEBO adopts Eastman's Cristal™ One IM812 for premium cosmetic overcap
Japanese cosmetics brand KANEBO has chosen Eastman’s specialty PET resin Cristal™ One IM812 for the overcap of its Generating Essentials Treatment Lotion. The material meets the product’s demanding performance needs, passing drop‑impact tests, retaining strength after post‑mold painting, and delivering a high‑gloss black finish that transitions from opaque to transparent. It is also recyclable in the PET stream, helping KANEBO anticipate future EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation requirements.
KANEBO’s designer Shinsuke Magai said the lotion reflects the brand’s “Progress Care” philosophy, while packaging engineer Shota Kawasaki highlighted the need for precise material‑performance alignment. Eastman marketing manager Tara Cary called the adoption “meaningful” for the company. Positive market response since the lotion’s January 2026 launch has prompted KANEBO to plan broader use of Cristal One Renew IM812 in upcoming products.
