Kangal Balıklı Kaplıcası to undergo major health tourism transformation

The Kangal Balıklı Kaplıcası, a world-renowned thermal spring in the Kangal district of Sivas, is set to undergo a major transformation into the ‘Balıklı Göl Tabiat Parkı’ (Fish Lake Nature Park). Following its transfer to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the facility is being repositioned as a major international health tourism hub.

The project, coordinated by the Sivas Governorate and the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, aims to protect the region's unique microclimate and endemic fish species. The development will cover 70,000 square meters, focusing on pedestrianization by moving vehicle traffic to the outer perimeter.

Scheduled to open in the summer of 2027, the new facility will include a 250-bed hotel, family-style cottages, a comprehensive health and cure center, open healing ponds, modern pools, and local cultural areas. The initiative is expected to significantly impact the local economy, with projections suggesting the district's population could effectively double due to the influx of visitors seeking treatment for skin conditions like psoriasis and various rheumatic ailments.
