Kangana Ranaut reprimands officials over unused MP funds in Mandi

Kangana Ranaut, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament for Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, expressed intense frustration with government officials during a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting. The MP criticized the slow pace of development and the mismanagement of the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds.

Ranaut claimed that out of approximately 11 crore rupees allocated in the MP fund, only about 50 lakh rupees had been utilized. She accused officials of providing inaccurate reports that suggested 90 percent of the funds had been spent, when the reality on the ground was significantly different. She criticized the work ethics of the officers, describing the situation as a ‘bloody joke’ and accusing them of ‘acting’ rather than performing their duties.

During the meeting, Ranaut demanded accountability, insisting that officials must ensure unspent funds are returned to government accounts and that clear timelines are established for pending projects. She noted that the lack of progress has led to public dissatisfaction and negative social media coverage regarding the development of the Mandi constituency.
