Kangana Ranaut vows to become an ‘awakened Hindu’ and join the Sangh

Actress and BJP Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut posted a video on social media on August 3, 2026, declaring that she has moved from being a “moderate Hindu” to an “awakened Hindu.” She said she wants to “convert” into a Sanghi and adopt the ideology of the BJP and RSS, stating that the Constitution gives her the freedom to choose any belief.

In the video she defended her past work in the film industry and argued that Hindu women should also be free to change their ideological stance without criticism. The remarks quickly generated a large online backlash and media coverage across India.
