Kangaroo spotted roaming forests near Trutnov

A kangaroo has been spotted roaming the forests near Trutnov in the Czech Republic. Local witnesses reported seeing the animal in the fog on Wednesday morning, noting that it appeared to be moving through the dense vegetation.

Authorities believe the animal may be Kajtek, a small species of kangaroo that escaped from the Zoo Łączna in Poland, located approximately 20 kilometers from the Trutnov area. The zoo has confirmed that Kajtek is a smaller variety than those typically seen in films and has been missing for some time.

Officials from the Polish zoo are coordinating with the Dvůr Králové Zoo to request assistance with a safe capture. Experts warn that the animal can reach speeds of up to 40 km/h when startled, making capture difficult and risky for the animal due to potential road accidents. The public is advised to remain calm, avoid chasing or attempting to catch the animal, and report sightings immediately to the proper authorities.
