Kannauj police clash with Kanwar Yatra pilgrims over DJ use

A confrontation erupted between police and Kanwar Yatra pilgrims in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, over the use of a DJ during the procession. The dispute began when police attempted to prevent the DJ from entering the city, leading to arguments, physical shoving, and a subsequent protest where pilgrims sat on the road to block traffic.

To prevent the situation from escalating further, administrative officials arrived at the scene. ADM Devendra Singh reportedly apologized to the pilgrim representatives for the police's actions. Amidst the high-tension standoff, the local Kotwal, Jitendra, publicly declared his intention to resign, stating, “I resign, God will do justice,” in response to the outcry regarding alleged misconduct toward the pilgrims. The situation was eventually resolved after permission was granted for the DJ to proceed.
