Kano Governor launches monthly empowerment program for 6,000 women

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has launched the Monthly Women’s Empowerment and Poverty Relief Programme, targeting approximately 5,800 to 6,000 women across the state’s 44 local government areas. Under this initiative, beneficiaries will receive 50,000 naira monthly to support small businesses and improve household incomes.

Speaking at the inauguration at the Government House Open Arena, Governor Yusuf stated that the program is part of his ‘Kano First’ agenda. He assured participants that funding has been secured to ensure the monthly payments continue without interruption through December 2026. Local government committees are tasked with distributing the funds to the selected women.

Mariya Bunkure, representing President Tinubu at the event, commended the governor for the initiative, noting that such economic support fosters independence and community growth.
