Kano High Court sentences man to death for murder and acquits another of armed robbery

Justice Farida Rabiu‑Danbappa of Kano High Court sentenced Shuaibu Abdulkadir to death by hanging after finding him guilty of culpable homicide in the murder of 23‑year‑old housewife Rumasa’u Shuaibu. The court ruled the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and gave the defendant 90 days to appeal.

In a separate proceeding, the same judge discharged and acquitted Francis Obodu of conspiracy, armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm, concluding the prosecution failed to establish the charges beyond reasonable doubt. Both rulings were handed down in Kano, Nigeria.
