Kano Hisbah bans mobile movie‑download services over pornographic content

The Kano State Hisbah Board announced a statewide ban on the mobile movie‑download business, commonly known as “downloading,” citing the circulation of pornographic and other morally offensive videos that it says corrupt children and young people. Deputy Commander‑General Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen disclosed the directive, which applies to all 44 local government areas in the state, and warned operators that non‑compliance will result in legal action.

Hisbah personnel have been deployed across the 44 LGAs to enforce the ban and monitor compliance. The board said the measure is part of its broader effort to protect public morality and uphold Islamic values, building on previous actions against activities such as alcohol sales, gambling, and indecent dressing.
