Kano security forces uncover illegal diesel refinery

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kano State Command has busted an illegal diesel refining site in Panisau, located within the Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State.

Five suspects, identified as Ibrahim Bello, 28; Musbahu Adam, 38; Rabiu Dahiru, 27; Haruna Kabiru, 26; and Sunusi Ahmad, 25, were arrested during the operation. The individuals are allegedly involved in operating an unregistered petroleum and gas business without required authorization.

Following the raid, which involved multiple units including the armed squad and anti-vandalism units, the facility was sealed. State Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama stated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat economic sabotage and enforce regulations governing the oil and gas sector. Authorities warned that illegal refining poses significant risks to public health, environmental sustainability, and national economic security.
