A series of violent attacks by gunmen and suspected bandits has targeted several local government areas in Kano State, Nigeria, within a 72-hour period.

In Rogo Local Government Area, gunmen killed two people and abducted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Fanka, during an overnight raid on Monday. This follows an attack on Sunday night in the Rantan Ward of Bebeji Local Government Area, where gunmen killed APC Ward Chairman Alhaji Garba Buba and a resident, Sulaiman Zunduma.

In a separate incident in the Chiromawa community of Garun Mallam Local Government Area, suspected bandits abducted the Sarkin Noman Kano, Alhaji Yusif Nadabo. Police and residents responded to the attack, successfully rescuing the traditional title holder. Three residents were reported injured during the Chiromawa incident.

The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation to apprehend the perpetrators. In response to the escalating violence, Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo has called for intensified intelligence gathering and urgent government intervention to secure rural communities and close existing security gaps.
