Kano State approves upgrade of five healthcare centres to general hospitals

The Kano State Government has approved the upgrade of five Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) to General Hospitals to improve healthcare service delivery. The facilities selected for the upgrade are located in the Garun Malam, Kumbotso, Ghari, Garko, and Takai Local Government Areas.

Dr. Mansur Mudi-Nagoda, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Hospital Management Board, has formed a team to conduct assessments of existing infrastructure, manpower, and equipment to facilitate the transition. The initiative aims to expand access to secondary healthcare in underserved communities, reduce the burden on existing specialist hospitals, and strengthen grassroots medical services.
