Kano State inaugurates committee to drive anti-corruption strategy

Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Head of Civil Service for Kano State, has inaugurated a high-powered Steering Committee to oversee the implementation of the Kano State Anti-Corruption Strategy (KANSACS). This effort is being conducted through the State Civil Service Delivery and Transparency Initiative (SSDTI).

The committee includes representatives from various key government institutions and aims to strengthen transparency, accountability, and efficiency within the state’s public service. Maimota described the initiative as a vital part of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to modernize the civil service for the 21st century.

Committee members have been tasked with acting as watchdogs to eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks and ensure timely service delivery. The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) plays a strategic role in the initiative, reflecting the state government’s stated zero-tolerance policy toward corruption. Sa’idu Yahaya, the Executive Chairman of the PCACC and Chairman of the Steering Committee, has urged members to translate the KANSACS 2024–2028 Action Plan into practical reforms across government ministries and departments.
